Is there really no per-booking commission?+
Correct. You pay Hostdawg a flat monthly fee ($19 Solo, $39 Host) and Stripe charges its standard 2.9% + 30¢ to process the card. That's it. We don't take a cut of your bookings, ever. No per-booking fee, no platform fee, no commission. The math on a single $1,000 direct booking puts roughly $130 more in your pocket than the same booking on Airbnb (after their guest service fee + host fee).
How does the direct booking calendar stay in sync with Airbnb / Vrbo?+
The same way every other Hostdawg calendar does — two-way iCal sync every 5 minutes. When a guest books direct, your Airbnb and Vrbo calendars close those dates within minutes. When they book on Airbnb, your direct page closes those dates within minutes. There's a tiny window where two channels could theoretically collide; we flag it instantly and let you handle it before either guest is charged.
Do guests trust booking outside Airbnb?+
More than they used to. The cohort of guests who's price-sensitive (which is most guests in 2026) actively looks for direct booking sites — there are even Reddit threads dedicated to finding them. The single biggest trust signal is your reviews, which Hostdawg pulls from Airbnb and displays on your direct page. Plus Stripe checkout (with the lock icon, Apple/Google Pay) reads as legitimate to every guest under 50.
What about cancellations & refunds?+
You set your own cancellation policy (flexible / moderate / strict — same buckets as Airbnb, or write your own). Refunds happen in one click and go back through Stripe within 5–10 business days. We don't hold any of your money — Stripe pays you out daily and refunds come straight off your next deposit.
Can I send my Airbnb guests to my direct page for their next stay?+
Yes — and this is where most hosts make their money back on Hostdawg. The “thank you for staying” SMS we send after checkout includes a returning-guest discount code that only works on your direct booking page. Roughly 30% of guests come back direct within 12 months. Just be careful what you say during the Airbnb conversation — Airbnb’s TOS blocks off-platform booking offers until the guest has stayed.
Can I have one page for multiple listings?+
Yes. You can have one "portfolio" homepage that lists all your properties (Yucca House, Tin Shed, Driftwood…), each with its own deep page and booking widget. Or one page per listing on its own domain. Or both. It's your site — set it up however helps you convert.
What if I want a really custom design — not a template?+
Our design team builds bespoke direct-booking sites as an add-on (one-time $890–$1,490 depending on listing count). They handle photography curation, custom layout, custom copy. Most hosts start on a template and upgrade after their first season of direct bookings pays for it.
